Jane Morton is the author of Shedding Season and Snake Lore, both from Black Lawrence Press. Their work has appeared in AGNI, West Branch, Gulf Coast, Boulevard, Ninth Letter, Sixth Finch, The Journal, and Joyland.
They hold an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama, where they served as Online Editor for Black Warrior Review. Morton is currently an Assistant Professor at Grand Valley State University, where they teach poetry and creative writing.
Morton has received a Fulbright Fellowship, a Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholarship for the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference, and a 2025 Alabama State Council on the Arts poetry fellowship. Snake Lore won the Black River Chapbook Competition from Black Lawrence Press.
